So, I wanted to talk about Gabrielle's relationship to Joxer and his status as a soulmate*.

*Note: this is a highly debated thing, but it's not necessarily canon unlike Xena and Gabrielle's status as SOULMATES. Him being a soulmate is more of a headcanon!

TL;DR is Joxer is a soulmate but not really on the same level as Gabrielle and Xena. He's a loyal friend to them both, often set to remain as just a friend. It's not the usual definition of Soulmate, but rather a broader one.

This is a list of mostly canon (unless stated otherwise) places Gabrielle has travelled or passed by during the run of the show. Reminder that the Xena timeline in itself borrows and moves myths and legends about, so it's not an exact science in what specific era this show takes place. Note, this doesn't necessarily count Xena's own adventures, only places where Gabrielle has been in, with or without Xena.

Additionally, some names of countries and cities are completely different from their modern day counter parts and some names are practically made up by the show's canon. So this should explain why places like Nippon/Japan are referred to as Jappa/Land of The Rising Sun in the show. The reason for the name changes also seems to stem from production and other external decisions to allow the show on air. One could also argue it was to give more degree of separation from the Xenaverse to the real life parts, given that the show was put in a bit of a spot with religious groups in the past.

There's also made up places, locations that are not exact, and a lot of traveling. Here we go!

"The rough roads of my journeys have taught me many things in my life. Things I can only thank Xena for teaching and showing me, things that -- without having gone through them -- I would have never known or worked out what my destiny and way truly is. The way of Love was not for me and it was never my destiny, and it probably isn't for everyone. Like Eve, some are destined to walk that path. Some have to walk another way. I strayed away from the way of Love to fight for my friend and to fight for good. I agreed and understood the way of love but when the moment came I could not turn my back away from a friend. They may follow the same beat, but the outcome can be vastly different if there's so much of a pebble on the way. In my path and in my destiny, the way of love wasn't fitting.

PROMPT: Would you consider your muse extroverted or introverted?

Extroverted, almost certain of it. Gabrielle seems to have no qualms about showing her emotions and talking to people. Since her gift is her eloquence and storytelling skills, it is almost a given that she is quite sociable. For example, while waiting in line she may be the first one to strike up a conversation with someone to pass the time. Another example would be that she's the first one to approach anyone she finds amusing or interesting. She's also not afraid to show herself off every now and then, not afraid to voice her own self-love. In addition, she's the first one to say she loves Xena and always speaks highly of the people she knows have done good without hesitation. Without shame, without fear.

Gabrielle is almost an open book in most regards, but the more closed off and personal details are known by the very few.

Season 4 → Season 6 (Flexible)

I can definitely still play her like the young whippersnapper she was at first, or the slowly changing/evolving bard she's in the middle of the series. It all depends. But for standard canon point I choose the nearly realized Season 6 Gabrielle, because it's a little easier I suppose.

So, this marks the beginning of the character study tag! In here, I'll grab prompts, questions, lists and questionnares in regards to Gabrielle and her character. I'll be taking some liberties here and there, but it's a good exploration of character. So, I figured I would share on the journal too!
