Regarding the Subtext.
I figured I would make an entire post for the subtext and discussing it, just cause!

So, what's up?
The mun stands very firmly in treating the subtext as actual text, for sure. Xena's relationship with Gabrielle is almost explicit in some spots, and it's become canon in the comics as well. The actresses think it's canon, the writers were pushing as much as they could to make it happen against a conservative and homophobic network. So, it's as clear as day to me and many others that Gabrielle and Xena are, not only soulmates, but on a more intimate level. Hell, they even look married!(Xena has a baby and Gabrielle is practically the father/mother taking care of it) And I think it's also beyond romantic, but way deeper.
That said, I am willing to play around with things (I am having the 'modern AU' option after all). I'm willing to play the ambiguous canon approach (where Xena and Gabrielle are, like, heavily into each other, but it's not explicitly stated. There's jealously, other hookups, but they're ride or die for one another), the absolute approach (definitely married, definitely bound, definitely exclusive to one another), or whatever happens! But Xena, to Gabrielle, is the most special person in the world and she will ALWAYS think this. Their bond is indestructible, even though it goes through the wringer in some points; their love and affection extends from just a simple connection. Frankly, my writing can't even begin to tap into that LMAO, but I will try my best.
Regarding Gabrielle's sexuality: There's discussion whether or not Gabrielle is Bisexual or a lesbian. To make it easier for mun, she will be bisexual. While Xena has had flings that we've seen in the show and has shown genuine love for them, we don't see much from Gabrielle besides Perdicus -- and some stuffed, weird flings here and there in season one. Whether or not Gabrielle really loved Perdicus was/is still up for discussion. There's debates on whether she married Perdicus because she thought she loved him because, in essence, he was what she should thrive for or if her feelings were true as naive as they were. But, again, for my sake I'll keep it as simple! Gabrielle is Bisexual and everyone is lucky today. I do believe she felt something for Perdicus and possibly other men in her life, given her nature. But besides the point!
When it comes to other ships and other canonmate ships: I'll be open to trying anything that has chemistry. I have a personal aversion (not the right word but, close) to Joxer/Gabrielle and Ares/Gabrielle, especially the last one. But I'm still open to some strange shipping/dynamics there. I have a predilection for Aphrodite/Gabrielle because it's adorable, but they could remain to be friends either way. And AU ships, welcome! If it works, it works. Crack ships, romantic ships, friendships, other soulmate ships, whatever comes, we're here for fun aren't we?
