“I watched Lila and Sarah tearfully reunite with an embrace while I stood a little far from it, feeling something in my gut squeezing and a lump in my throat forming. I realized then, even with Xena’s comforting hand on my shoulder, that I regretted something.
I regretted not being there for my family in times of need, even if there was little I could do to avoid it. I regret not being around to see my sister marry, to see Sarah grow up, to talk to my parents one last time and maybe to convince them that Xena wasn't that bad after all.
